Loveli Bibi

Loveli Bibi has been doing Kantha stitch for more than thirty years. She learned it as a girl from her mother, and she has not put the needle down since.

Today more than 400 women in and around Nanoor work with her. She draws the designs, pins them on the cloth, decides who stitches what, and checks every piece before it leaves the village.

Her work is bought by people around the world, and she is invited to exhibitions to show it in person. We call her a world-class artisan because the work speaks for itself: the density of the stitch, the even tension, the back of the cloth as clean as the front.

Artisans like Loveli Bibi are the reason Kantha is still alive. But most of them are not online, and in an online world the people who actually make the craft are the hardest to find. KANTHA exists to change that - a direct line from her hands to yours, with no middlemen in between.
