A whole story on one length of cloth

A Kantha dupatta is where artisans love to tell stories: bullock carts and village fairs, bamboo groves, fish for good fortune, the tree of life, birds among flowers. Each piece is drawn by hand and filled with running stitches over several weeks. Wear one with a plain kurta and it becomes the outfit.

How to choose

  • Dupatta — longer and wider, for kurtas and suits, often with dense all-over Kantha.
  • Stole — lighter and narrower, for everyday wear, office and gifting.
  • Silk for festive days, cotton for daily comfort.

Frequently asked questions

How do I care for a Kantha dupatta? Silk pieces should be dry cleaned. Cotton can be hand washed in cold water and dried in shade. Iron on the reverse side so the stitches stay raised.

Can I get the same design in another colour? Yes. Most designs can be stitched again for you to order. Send the design on WhatsApp +91 94752 93147.

Are these good as gifts? Very. A Kantha stole is one of the most-loved Bengali gifts for weddings, teachers and family abroad.
