About this piece
THE HOOK
Before the thread ever touches the border, the story is already decided — who will sing, who will play, who will dance across the ivory.
THE CRAFT
The base is soft, breathable cotton in warm ivory, framed by a hand-worked green border and finished with the fine, all-over running stitch that defines authentic Santiniketan kantha. The central panel is entirely hand-embroidered — musicians, dancers, and a flowering tree rendered in six-thread cotton across blues, reds, mustards, and pinks. Small buttis in rust and ochre run across the body of the stole, each one placed by hand, not printed.
